ABOUT DTE Midstream

DTE Midstream is an owner, operator and developer of an integrated portfolio of natural gas midstream interstate pipelines, intrastate pipelines, storage systems, gathering lateral pipelines, gathering systems and compression, treatment and surface facilities.  With this strong midstream portfolio we serve gas & electric utilities, power plants, marketers, large industrial customers and producers. We’re laser focused on operating our assets at the industry’s highest safety and reliability standards. The execution of a disciplined investment strategy has resulted in strong growth over the past decade – always putting our customers first.

We develop and construct tailored infrastructure solutions in collaboration with our customers.  Our full-service development, engineering and construction team is ready to tackle any, and all, customer needs.

We continue to expand across all three Midstream platforms–gathering, pipelines and storage. Some recent projects include:

  • The Blue Union Gathering system was acquired in October 2019 and provides a new growth platform for DTE Midstream
  • The Link Lateral and Gathering System (AGS and SGG) – continues to grow beyond our original plan from October 2016 when we acquired the system
    • Purchased additional 30% in the SGG system in 2019 – now at 85% ownership
  • The greenfield NEXUS Pipeline entered service late 2018 – followed by acquisition of Generation Pipeline in the Toledo market area (September 2019)
  • Millennium Pipeline completed two major expansions in New York State (2018 and 2019)
  • Added pipeline laterals to power plants (Birdsboro, PA and the Valley Lateral, NY)
  • Continue to invest in the W-10 storage complex to enhance deliverability and reliability

DTE Energy’s pipeline and storage roots date back to the 1950s and 1960s, when DTE developed gas storage fields from depleted oil and gas reservoirs.  DTE’s pipeline and gathering expansions continued into the 1970s and through the 1990s, supporting Michigan’s oil and gas reserve development: Niagaran reef followed by the Antrim shale.

Today, DTE Midstream is an active market participant across the Midwest, Appalachia, Gulf Coast, the Northeast and eastern Canada region, owning interstate pipelines, gas storage and gathering assets.  Our focused strategy has positioned us to play an important infrastructure role in the world-class Marcellus, Utic and Haynesville shale plays which are premier, low-cost production areas.  We tackle complex and large (>$1 billion) infrastructure projects, e.g. Millennium, Bluestone, Link, and NEXUS.
