Safety is more than a corporate responsibility; it’s a passionate commitment to protecting people, wildlife and the environment.
BETTER SAFETY THROUGH TECHNOLOGY
DTE puts the health and safety of people first. Our technical capabilities and comprehensive experience ensure safety standards are exceeded within our facilities, around our pipelines and throughout our entire infrastructure—without compromise.
We’re committed to protecting the environment and supporting the communities we serve by prioritizing local training and hiring, including military veterans. We do all of this while following and developing best industry practices—and ensuring our contractors do too.
Across our company, DTE works to reduce our impact on the environment and leave project sites better than how we found them. Utilizing decades of experience, environmental implications to the water, land or air are accounted for from initial planning through project completion and beyond.
PIPELINE EDUCATION AND SAFETY
The more consumers know, the better. That’s why we educate the public on where pipelines are located in the community. Knowing the signs of a possible leak is also critical to identifying problems and alerting authorities.
DTE systems are designed, engineered and operated with industry leading safety practices. In addition to expert support on call 24/7, central station systems monitor and implement safety shutoffs remotely and quickly. Regular safety drills and collaborative drills with local emergency responders are conducted regularly.
IDENTIFYING GAS LEAKS
We continuously educate the public on damage prevention measures and work closely with first responders and neighbors alike to identify and report signs of problems. Everyone is encouraged to report gas leak concerns, unusual smells or any sign of a problem near a pipeline. Communication is critical and we are committed to taking action and ensuring safe operation. We employ and train local professionals dedicated to responding to concerns 24/7.
If you detect any safety issues, leave the area immediately without trying to locate the source of the leak, and call 800.477.5050.
